Lactate Dynamics & World-Tour Level Testing
What sets Cycling Science | UAE apart? It's not just the use of advanced data – it's the precision and insight behind it. We employ the same lactate dynamics testing and analysis used by World Tour teams, delivering physiological assessments that leave no stone unturned. By tracking how your body responds to stress and how efficiently it clears lactate, we uncover the hidden opportunities for performance breakthroughs.

Imagine being tested the same way pro riders are, right on your training roads, using your own bike and power meter. No lab needed – just real-world conditions that give us the most accurate picture of your engine's true capability.
Every 8 weeks, we recalibrate – measuring your physiology, refining your thresholds, and adjusting your training plan with pinpoint accuracy. This continuous, world-class feedback loop ensures your training is always on track, always improving, and always pushing you to the next level.

The Physiological Process
Step 1: Establishing Baseline Parameters
We start by determining your Critical Power (CP), W prime (W'), and power at VO2 max through structured maximal efforts. These metrics form the foundation of your personalised performance profile, giving us a clear understanding of your aerobic and anaerobic capacities.
Step 2: Analysing Fatigue Resistance
We assess your performance data to evaluate how your power output changes under fatigue. By examining your fresh and fatigued power production, we establish your individual fatigue resistance range (FRR). This analysis provides crucial insights into your endurance capabilities and helps us identify specific areas for improvement.
Step 3: Lactate Profiling and Threshold Assessment
We measure your baseline lactate, LT1 (aerobic threshold), LT2 (anaerobic threshold), and peak lactate rate. LT1 indicates the intensity at which lactate begins to accumulate above baseline levels, while LT2 represents the maximum intensity at which lactate production and clearance are balanced. The peak lactate rate shows your maximum lactate production capacity, offering a comprehensive view of your metabolic efficiency.
Step 4: Individualised Lactate Clearance Test (ILCT)
We assign a 15-minute effort based on your CP power-to-weight ratio, rounded to the nearest 0.5 w/kg. After completing this effort, we measure your blood lactate levels to assess lactate production at this specific intensity and duration. This data provides insight into your physiological response, helping us formulate a tailored training strategy aimed at increasing your efficiency. We repeat this test every 8 weeks to track progress and adjust your training plan accordingly, ensuring continuous improvement in your metabolic efficiency.
